Rideau Retirement Residence is owned and operated by the Chalmers Foundation, a local not-for-profit established in 1970.
Rideau Residence is not a facility. It is a home. A community. A place where life does not slow down — it gets better.
Retirement and assisted living tailored to your lifestyle—backed by 50+ years of compassionate care.
Enjoy fresh, balanced dishes crafted for taste and wellness—because dining should be both nourishing and joyful.

We know what you might be picturing. Long corridors. Institutional furniture. Staff who do not know your name.
That is not Rideau.
Our team have been with us for over 20 years in many cases. They know our residents by name, by personality, by preference. The food is genuinely good — chef-prepared, three times a day, with snacks and coffee available throughout. The suites are bright, modern, and yours to decorate exactly as you like.
Residents and their families tell us the same three things over and over:
Rideau Residence is the right home for seniors who are mobile and aware of their surroundings — people who are ready to leave behind the responsibilities of maintaining a home but are absolutely not ready to stop living fully.
If you still drive we offer parking at a monthly rate. If you love staying active we have 6 to 7 activities every single day. If you value your independence we will never tell you what to do or when to do it.
Our ideal resident is someone who wants a great life — with great food, great company, and the security of knowing support is always nearby when they need it. We serve seniors from across Burnaby, Vancouver, and the surrounding Metro Vancouver communities.
We believe that staying active and socially connected is key to overall wellness. Our recreation team organizes daily activities designed to keep residents engaged, mentally stimulated, and physically active.
I would like to sincerely thank the entire Rideau team for the care, kindness, and support I have received during my time here. Rideau has been more than just a residence; it has been a community filled with warmth, respect, and genuine compassion.

The staff are amazing. While I am not a resident, my mother is, and I cannot imagine her living anywhere else. Today, I fell outside and, due to my disability, struggled to get up. Eric came right away and handled the situation with great skill, patience, and care.
