OUR APPROACH

Rideau is committed to supporting the individual needs of our residents and offering the highest quality of service.

Our mission is to build a strong and caring community that fosters independence, mutual respect and dignity, and promotes informed decision making. We work hard to create a positive environment where wellbeing is prioritized and day-to-day life is easy and fulfilling. We offer many opportunities for collaboration with our residents to ensure their evolving physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs are being considered and met.

CHALMERS FOUNDATION

The Chalmers Foundation has spent more than 50 years creating vibrant and safe communities for seniors in the Lower Mainland. As the owner and operator of Rideau Retirement Residence, we are dedicated to positively impacting the lives of our residents, our Foundation members, and the communities in which we live and work.

In 1970, the Foundation opened the doors of its first residence, Chalmers Lodge, which is located in Vancouver’s South Granville neighbourhood. In 2022, the Chalmers Foundation purchased Rideau Retirement Residence in order to expand on its mission to provide assisted living and independent housing to older adults in the Lower Mainland.

The Chalmers Foundation maintains a Board of Directors, which offers direction to the CEO of Rideau Retirement Residence, and oversees the organization of policies, management, planning, finances, use of resource and services. The Board includes resident representation and focuses its work on ensuring a sustainable future for Rideau by maintaining adequate resources to achieve its mission, and by providing good governance.
